Lance Stroll’s race was compromised from the very first lap in Baku, as contact with Yuki Tsunoda’s RB gave him a puncture, the resulting pit stop dropping him to last place. But while the Canadian left Azerbaijan disappointed, Fernando Alonso bagged good points for the team with a sixth-place finish.

Alpine didn’t just have a race to forget but a whole weekend in which nothing really went right for the team, leaving them with two slightly disgruntled drivers at the flag. Esteban Ocon finished 15th and Pierre Gasly 12th, but it wasn’t just the pace that was the issue in Azerbaijan.

Yuki Tsunoda retired from the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with damage sustained from contact, the second race in a row he’s failed to see the chequered flag following a collision with another car.

Oscar Piastri claimed a remarkable second Grand Prix victory around the unforgiving streets of Baku, fighting past pole-sitter Charles Leclerc before defending until the very end to take the top step. While Ferrari had a bittersweet day with a podium and a detrimental crash, there was much to celebrate for others as the F1 world took to social media to praise the performances of the competitors.

Kick Sauber are still on a mission to settle on their second driver for the 2025 season and beyond, with their Team Representative Alessandro Alunni Bravi revealing that a decision will be made in the near future.

Andrea Stella was full of praise for both his drivers in Azerbaijan, as he saw Oscar Piastri deliver his second career win for McLaren and Lando Norris recover from a Q1 qualifying exit to finish in fourth. Those results lifted McLaren above Red Bull in the constructors’ championship, as the team chase a first constructors’ title since 1998.
