Robin Hood Series 3 week2

This week saw me finishing cutting off the last of the rustybits on the shell and started fitting some new parts. The last part to take off was  the gearbox mount, the mount itself had fallen apart but the bolts remained, so out with the angle grinder and that was soon sorted, the bolt into the gearbox after soaking in wd40 and tapping with a hammer  leaving overnight-snapped with about 5lb torque applied good quality bolt ! I continued adding strengthening plates to the roll cage/seat belt mountings, got the roll bar rubbed down primed and then sprayed silver with 3 or 4 coats of lacquer, got it fitted into placce bolted up and welded onto the base plate. Next job on the rear end will be trimming and fitting the rear arches temporarily as they will need taking off to get painted.

I moved on to the front end the shell to fit some angle iron inside the u section where it joins the bulkhead, the Exmo developed cracks around this point so a 2 foot length of angle iron was bolted each side to stiffen the weak point, I will be putting some plate on the floor where it joins the bulkhead as well but I need other things positioned first. Moving on to trying to get the engine started i raided my spares and fitted good altenator, starter, weber carb and manifold, and distibutor. I also found a Sierra engine wiring loom which will be used temporarily until the new loom goes in.

Yesterday, I got my box of Robin Hood bits of metal to try to work out what they are for and where they might fit, anyone any good at jigsaws. some i managed but i still have about 9 peices of stainless and 3 brackett that I cant work out.Not as much done this week as I had the Dolomite Robin Hood to take for its test then when the engine blew I had the cylinder head to remove.
