Red Bull say it would be "naive" to expect them to be able to compete at the very front in F1 from the beginning of their new engine partnership with Ford.

Former F1 driver Logan Sargeant has been confirmed to race for Ford in the World Endurance Championship’s Hypercar class in 2027, with the news announced nearly 18 months after the American’s exit from the Williams team.

Red Bull boss Laurent Mekies conceded during the team’s launch event that he is anticipating some “struggles, headaches and sleepless nights” amid the challenge of the squad manufacturing their own power units for the first time in 2026.
