Robin Hood Series 3a weeks 4 and 5

I havn't made as much progress as I had planned as I was catering for 20 relatives at our Wedding aniverary party- two days preperation and two days cooking and two days recovery, but it went well, it jost means i am going to have to work a bit harder to get it finished.

First job this week was to get the Triumph engine sorted in the S7, fitting the new head was a bit of a pain as the chain tensioner had taken up some slack and I couldn't get the cam pulley to slide into place but fter many attempts it finally gave up and slid into place. It fifed up quite easily and after a bit fiddle with the carbs was ticking over nicely, i am waiting for a new thermostat for it and I have to re-torque the head and it will be filled with anti freeze mix warmed right up to temp and the head re-torqued for the second time---then MOT time again.

I have discovered that the new shell is a Robin Hood 3a not  a 3 or a NEW 111 not quite sure what the difference is in the models as all the monocoques are all basically the same design. Anyway I got the offside rear wing trimmed to fit and got it bolted into place, while doing this I fitted the two inner wing infil panels but a new bit of panel has to be made to fill in at the front of the wing - I am hoping that the ones on my old car can be salvaged as they will require quite a bit of fabrication. I then moved on and got the pedal-box finished  just the master cylinder to fit and the cover to tim and reshape to be a good fit but that can wait for the moment.

I stripped the Sierra engine harness and got the engine wied up, fitted the exhaustconnected the battery and cranked the engine over to get the oil circulating  what I didn't see as I was on the other sibde of the oengine, the oil filter had more holes in it than a pin cushion and the oil was was spraying the chassis a nd my drive!!!!! I have got that sorted . just need to get a spark sorted and I will have it started, might be wise to get it on its wheels first.

Bolted the nose-cone into place--- that bonnet is going to be a right sod to fit it flops arround all over the place so I think strengthening bars and locating pins to position it. I will add photos tomorrow.
